Fifty years ago in 1962, Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta founded the United Farm Workers, the nation’s largest farm workers’ union.

This week, thousands of union leaders, politicians and activists are attending the week-long activities commemorating the UFW’s anniversary in Kern County, California. They are there to celebrate Chavez’s legacy, but many agree that even though working conditions have improved for farm workers they still have a long way to go.
