After years of effort and millions of dollars spent, Latinos high school students are still not prepared for college level work, according to results from the college entrance exam known was the ACT.

The latest report on the status of Latino college enrollment rounds out an interesting snapshot. Though the high school dropout rate is the highest among Latino students, Pew researchers found that Latino enrollment in colleges hit an all-time high in 2010, eclipsing all other student groups.

College and career readiness among 2011 Hispanic U.S. high school graduates who took the ACT test shows slow but steady improvement, particularly in the key areas of math and science, according to ACT’s yearly report.
