More than any other group in the country, Latinos are increasingly using community colleges as their pathway to higher learning and a future career.

Latino students are college-bound in California, preparing for professional careers in education and science, in finance and in politics. Some students from low income families say education is the key to lift them and their families out of poverty.

The latest report on the status of Latino college enrollment rounds out an interesting snapshot. Though the high school dropout rate is the highest among Latino students, Pew researchers found that Latino enrollment in colleges hit an all-time high in 2010, eclipsing all other student groups.
