Businesses founded by Latinos are contributing hundreds of millions of dollars each year to the Iowa economy at the same time that they are training a new generation of community leaders, according to a report released Wednesday by Iowa State University. The study reveals that an important factor in the growth of small businesses in Iowa are the state's "newest residents, enterprising Latino immigrants in small communities who are very diverse in age, skills and education."
Reynoso used a panel discussion at University of the Pacific to address the lack of a long-term plan developed by the two neighboring nations. Reynoso, the son of farm workers, said the United States needs to work with Mexico on improving opportunities in Mexico. Reynoso also said he doesn't believe that will happen anytime soon. If Mexicans can work in Mexico, "I think they'll stay in Mexico, which is basically the only solution that will solve this problem," he said.
