The Texas branch of the League of United Latin American Citizens has stepped up its efforts to get Latinos registered to vote and to have more women in the state running for public office.

Only Puerto Ricans can decide their fate. But to solve the pressing emergency on the Island they will have to stand up, work hard, be united, combat ignorance, learn to love their land and respect it.

A Latino was appointed to the state's top court in Washington. King Country Superior Court Judge Steven Gonzalez was appointed to serve on the State Supreme Court.

The Latino vote could be decisive in key states in the 2012 elections and so conservative groups are seeking to attract Hispanics with the promise of representing their interests on issues such as education, unemployment and immigration.

Cecilia Muñoz, the Director of Intergovernmental Affairs at the White House, has proven to be the Latina spokesmodel for Obama’s immigration policy, prioritizing deportations over any executive action that could be taken and attempting to sell this destructive product to us in English and Spanish.
