Just as quickly as states have been signing their restrictionist immigration bills into law, so have immigrant and civil rights groups been responding by filing lawsuits to challenge them.
Six undocumented immigrant high school students, some as young as 16 years old, have been arrested by police while protesting the Georgia’s anti-immigrant law at the state capitol today.
On Wednesday the ACLU and the National Immigration Law Center, representing three Indiana residents, filed suit against the state of Indiana charging that its recently passed immigration law — initially designed to mimic SB 1070 — is unconstitutional.
